I joined Athabasca University in 1979 and in 1981 became the sole psychologist in what was to become the psychology department. I have pursued a holistic approach to psychology and education in my research and development. My work in experiential learning and the assessment of prior learning has spanned over 35 years. I have extended this work with studies in quality of life and transformative learning particularly the applications to career development. I have special interests in personal and professional development and community education. I currently coordinate the Athabasca University Certificate in Career Development. I would prefer to be found paddling a canoe than sitting at a desk.
I did my undergraduate studies in psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and graduated with M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto in the field of educational psychology.
