Biography

Greetings to all of my students, prospective students, colleagues and mentors and thank you for the privilege of working with you. My name is Colleen McClure and I am an individualized study tutor and have served as an acting academic coordinator in the post-baccalaureate certificate program in inclusive education (Psychology/Educational Psychology 389 and 470).

I bring to this role extensive experience with planning, implementing , supervising and managing educational and behavioural programming for children and adolescents with diverse learning needs as an associate superintendent of schools, acting director, supervisor, senior manager, project manager, acting principal, assistant school administrator, consultant and teacher. I am particularly interested in the implementation of educational and behavioural programs for students with diverse learning strengths and needs and the pedagogical strengths and skills of effective teachers.

Like many viewing this site, I too am a mature student as I am working on completing a PhD. in Educational Psychology, Special Education. I have recently completed advanced educational psychology courses in program evaluation, reading and assessment, special education and mixed methods research. In this same academic year, I was afforded the opportunity to work with the Alberta Clinical and Community-based Evaluation Research team (ACCERT) on a DeafBlind Support Service program evaluation.

I look forward to continued collaborations with Athabasca University students and staff.
